For everybody's sake, Hamas needs to mellow, because what has their rhetoric of destroying Israel done? It has simply been rhetoric. Hamas says is has renounced the use of violence, and that it recognizes the pre-1967 borders. Now it needs to recognize the State of Israel. This was called upon by the President of Turkey, Abdullah Gul, and it was after Israeli commandos stormed a Turkish ship running the blockade of Gaza. What Hamas has done is put the 1.5 million citizens of Gaza in severe poverty and high unemployment. If there can be negotiations on a two-state solution, then there can breaking Gaza from its economic isolation. Already the Palestinians do U.S. $3 billion dollars worth of business with Israel. Israel is the Palestinians largest trading partner. That means Gaza can economic interact with Israel. Because the truth is Israel is there to stay, so are the Palestinians. So why not create a two-state solution, so everybody can live with economic viability and political stability. For Hamas in its past form, has not done either.
